The Cleveland Cavaliers have re-signed Tristan Thompson to a five-year, $82 million deal, announced GM David Griffin.
Thompson was initially asking for a max contract of five years worth $94 million. The two sides were in negotiations all summer long and Thompson rejected a five-year deal worth $80 million. Thompson's $82 million deal is identical to the Golden State Warriors' Draymond Green's.
The high-motor power forward averaged 8.5 points per game, 8.0 rebounds per game, and 3.3 offensive rebounds per game (fifth best in the league) on 55% shooting from the floor last season.
